WORX WG583E 40V Cordless Leaf Blower and Vacuum Review
Raking lawns and sweeping pathways quickly turns into a slog at this time of year, so a leaf blower and vacuum combo makes perfect sense to speed things up and take the effort out of the job. From experience, though, corded and petrol-powered designs often bring their own hassle, like dragging cables around or dealing with fumes and pull-starts. In contrast, a cordless, battery-powered model is as easy to grab as a broom or rake. The question is, does the WORX WG583E 40V cordless leaf blower and vacuum have the power and capability to handle all our outdoor cleaning needs around the studio?
Design
The design is clean and the plastics are the kind that don’t flex under pressure, with that unmistakable flagship WORX orange trim accenting a black body. It’s quite compact when the attachments are off, so storage is never an issue. Removing the attachments is a doddle, and the WORX WG583E can easily be tucked away in a garage or shed without taking up much real estate.
With two 4Ah batteries equipped, the total weight comes in at around 4.8kg — but it never feels hefty or arduous to lug around. In fact, it’s surprisingly lightweight for a dual-battery 3-in-1 tool. The twin batteries mount neatly on the top, while the brushless motor sits concealed within the main body beneath. This set-up creates a well-balanced centre of gravity and a reassuring downforce when using the leaf-sucking tool with its wheels and the collection bag attached securely to the body; and at all times sits comfortably against your side, supported by an adjustable shoulder strap that helps distribute the weight evenly while you work. The main body naturally wants to point downwards, which makes both the vacuum and blower attachments feel stable and easy to guide.
The trigger is comfortable to press and hold down — which is just as well, since there’s no lock mechanism built in. One of the few design gripes we have is that, when you reach to pick up the WORX 40V cordless leaf blower and vacuum, your hand naturally lands on the trigger, causing it to accidentally power on, since it’s positioned right where you’d instinctively grab the handle.

Battery runtime
Two 4Ah WORX PowerShare batteries are supplied in this bundle and runtime proved respectable. There are two speed modes to choose from. In the more performative, higher-powered mode, runtime averaged around 15 minutes - while the lower setting extended that to roughly 30 minutes. It’s a fair trade-off, as the lower speed is usually sufficient for most day-to-day tidying, while the higher mode gives an extra punch for stubborn jobs.
Leaf Blowing
When configured with the blowing attachment and filter adapter (in place of the collection bag), the WORX WG583E 40V cordless leaf blower and vacuum delivers a strong and focused airflow. In the slower of the two modes, it’s perfectly capable and consistent for sweeping leaves into piles or clearing pathways. Airflow remains even and well-controlled, helping direct leaves without scattering them across your garden again.
Our first test involved clearing some cobbles that had become overwhelmed by leaves, and using just the vacuum proved too time-consuming. In scenarios like this, where the ground is heavily textured, it’s actually quicker to blow the debris into piles first and then vacuum it up afterwards. We found this easy to get the hang of thanks to the lightweight body and well-shaped nozzle, which made manoeuvring effortless. Before long, we were even using walls as a surface to bounce leaves off, guiding them neatly into tidy piles.
Push it into the higher speed mode, which outputs 335 km/h of airflow, and larger debris, such as small sticks or chunks of bark, or pine needles that were lodged in our decking grooves, are all sent into a pile, and despite the immediately obvious raucous power offered the blower still feels easy to control.
Leaf Sucking
Switching over to vacuum mode transforms the WG583E into an efficient leaf-munching machine. We put it to work on our composite decked boardwalk-style pathway utilising the vacuum attachment's wheels that can be pushed along flat surfaces. This pathway was littered with fallen twigs, pine needles and sticky leaves from the surrounding canopies — and the brushless motor didn’t flinch, gobbling up continuous piles of debris when in high-performance mode; whisking through these large quantities of debris in seconds, mulching everything finely in the process. The suction was even strong enough to lift leaves from between decking gaps and around edges with just a gentle, quick pass. This isn’t something a broom can do.

It’s so simple to get out and use that we now always reach for it after strimming pathway edges, sucking up the loose grass trimmings with ease. But even heavier materials, like bark and small sticks, posed no problem for the mulching blade. A quick inspection of the collection bag after going after a pile of sticks revealed the 12:1 mulch ratio isn’t just marketing talk, it really does turn everything into compostable waste for easy scattering.

Verdict
The WORX WG583E 40V Cordless Leaf Blower and Vacuum feels like a tool designed to make outdoor tidying genuinely effortless. It’s light enough to grab as instinctively as a broom but powerful enough to replace one entirely. Across our testing, it’s proven to be a versatile all-rounder that takes the hassle out of both leaf blowing and vacuuming — with no cables to trip over, no petrol fumes and no compromises on performance.
Its balanced design, comfortable handling and straightforward attachment system make it as easy to live with as it is effective. Whether you’re clearing up autumn leaves, pine needles, or grass trimmings after a tidy-up, it consistently delivers impressive suction and airflow.
