The Speck CandyShell Series comes in 15 different skews of colours and styles. Something for everyone can definitely be found, with subtle to very bold styles on offer.
The overall build of the case is solid. The exterior is covered in a very grippy, very pleasant to hold rubber. The interior has a plastic shell which looks pretty cool. The iPhone basically just slides in which sounds like it should just slide out but because of the flex the CandyShell gives it keeps the iPhone securely and firmly inside.
Your volume rockers, sleep and wake button are covered with artificial buttons built into the case. They function very well and feel really responsive and satisfying to use. The speakers, 30 pin dock connector and audio jack are all cut out precisely, allowing all the features to used without interference. The rear camera cutout is the biggest I’ve ever seen on an iPhone case! And thats a good thing, it allows the maximum amount of light to enter the cameras lens and also avoids shadows from occurring.
The feel of the case is really pleasant, it’s so thin and light and doesn’t cover the bezel. All this combines to full featured experience without the need to work around anything.
Protection offered is insane! As I mentioned it’s so thin and light but that doesn’t seem to interfere with the ruggedness of the Speck CandyShell. It has a massive amount of shock absorbance from the rubber exterior and the hard shell makes sure your iPhone doesn’t move around on impact. I dropped my iPhone 4S onto concrete in a controlled fashion so it didn’t go screen first. But my iPhone remained in the exact same state that it was in previous to big impact drops. It’s the perfect case to have on your iPhone when in your pocket as it takes up such little room.
Overall I am really impressed with the Speck CandyShell Case for iPhone 4/ 4S. A thin, light and good looking design topped with great functionality and rock solid protection make this a definitive iPhone case.
